Green Smoothie Recipe

Are you looking for a delicious green smoothie with many incredible health benefits?

This green goddess smoothie recipe will become your new favorite for its refreshing and tropical taste and boosting health benefits made out of five ingredients.

I created this green smoothie recipe of deliciousness inspired by a local shop that unfortunately closed down.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I would crave this green smoothie several times during the week.

Now that I have my daughter and she has transitioned to eating solids, it brings me joy that she enjoys this green goddess smoothie when I make it.

With this green goddess smoothie recipe, I hope to bring happiness, spread health tips, and remind you of the wonders of eating fruits and vegetables.

Health Benefits & Smart Shopping

Title Green Goddess Smoothie Ingredients with image of a white cutting board with a handful of frozen chunk pineapples. handful fo fresh spinach, half a green apple, and a measuring spoon with honey.

With my background in Nutrition, I want to highlight some health benefits of each of the five ingredients.

Spinach

Health benefit: Spinach contains calcium, manganese, and vitamin K, strengthening your bones by rebuilding bone tissue. Spinach contains iron that helps transport oxygen to the blood, giving you more energy during the day.

Smart Shopping: Look for green leaves and stems that are not yellow. Avoid leaves that appear slimy.

For this recipe, I got prewashed spinach.

Green apples

Health tip: Green apples contain fiber to help regulate bowel movements and vitamin C to help build a strong immune system.

Smart Shopping: Pick green apples that are firm, bright green, and smooth.

Pineapple

Health tip: Pineapples contain an enzyme called bromelain that helps heal skin and tissue. Pineapples also have B vitamins (thiamin, niacin, B6, and folate) that help build new red blood cells.

Smart Shopping: Pick fresh pineapples that are heavy in size with dark green leaves, and avoid soft or dark spots.

For this recipe, I prefer frozen pre-cut pineapple pieces.

Honey

Honey, if desired for this recipe, is recommended for children after one year of age.

Health tip: Honey contains antioxidants, which protect cells from damage, and has anti-inflammatory benefits to help reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases.

Smart Shopping: The darker the honey in color, the higher the amount of antioxidants.

Water

Are you trying to increase your water intake? Let's make this a friendly reminder to choose water next time you want to drink something with your meal.

Health tip: Drinking water helps with regulating body temperature, lubricating joints, flushing out waste products, and protecting body organs and tissues.

Smart Shopping: There are different ways to drink water in the form of tap, mineral, spring, distilled, and purified water. I grew up drinking purified water. Feel free to pick your water type of choice.
